Spinal and Extremity Adjustment
-
A chiropractic adjustment is a therapeutic treatment in which a chiropractor uses their hands to apply a controlled thrust to manipulate the joints in the body, such as the spine. The goal of a spinal adjustment is to restore or enhance joint motion and function to successfully reduce joint inflammation, muscle spasm and ultimately resolve pain and discomfort. A spinal adjustment can correct your body’s alignment and how your body functions physically.
Dry needling
-
A procedure used to treat muscular pain, spasm and restricted movement associated with tight muscles in the body. A thin needle is inserted into muscles consisting of trigger points, which are areas of hard or knotted muscles causing tightness and pain. When dry needles are applied to an affected muscle or trigger point, it can decrease muscle tightness, increase blood flow and reduce pain.
Sports massage
- Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage which focuses on the manipulation and treatment of soft tissues such as skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Sports massage is focused on correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissues that are caused from trauma and repetitive and strenuous activity. Sports massage is used to relax the musculoskeletal system and assist in relieving muscular tension, breaking down adhesions and reducing pain.
Dry cupping
-
A specialised technique in which special cups are placed using a suction over soft tissue areas such as muscles and tendons. Dry cupping is used to assist in reducing pain and inflammation in the body by increasing blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may alleviate muscle tension and tightness by improving overall blood flow. Dry cupping may also be used to increase joint mobility, reduce pain, promote cell repair and help form new connective tissue.
Tool assisted soft tissue release
- This technique has been known as “scraping” which involves the use of a small, steel instrument to massage over different soft tissue areas of the body such as muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons to effectively break down fascia restrictions and scar tissue. Fascia is a connective tissue which surrounds and separates the muscle. This technique focuses on treating specific areas of the body to relieve stiffness and improve range of motion which will allow for faster pain relief, improved mobility and a faster recovery.
Stretching and Rehabilitation
-
Stretching is a type of exercise that improves flexibility and mobility by lengthening the muscles with certain movements. This will assist in increased blood flow, increased muscle control and motion.
Rehabilitation is a speciality which helps people restore their physical functioning. Physical rehabilitation focuses on individuals who have experienced injuries, surgery and physical conditions which have affected their daily life activities such as walking, working and exercise. Rehabilitation includes a number of techniques used to improve an individual’s balance, strength, motion and quality of life.
Kinesio Taping
-
Kinesio Taping is a technique which utilises K-Tape, a thin flexible tape applied to certain areas of the body to provide support in muscle movement. The goal of K-tape is to reduce swelling, relieve pain and support muscles and joints. K-tape is a pain free technique which is commonly used to aid in the healing process of acute and chronic injuries.
Electrotherapy
- A specialised technique which includes a range of treatments by using electricity to reduce pain and stiffness, improve blood circulation, repair broken tissue, strengthen muscles, reduce muscle tension and tightness, resulting in improvements to physical body functioning. Electrotherapy consists of a device connected to electrode pads which are applied to the skin using a sticky surface in which a pain free, mild electric current is sent through the skin and into the muscle.
Ultrasound therapy
A non-invasive and pain-free treatment which uses a device to send sound waves into certain soft tissues areas of the body. Ultrasound therapy is usually applied over muscles, tendons and ligaments. The common purpose for ultrasound therapy is to increase blood flow to soft tissue areas which may improve blood circulation, reduce pain and promote tissue healing and recovery. Ultrasound therapy is often used to treat injuries, muscle spasms and tears, ligament sprains and tendon strains.
